The Bayer brewery of Mönsterås

The brewery was built 1870 and law near mönsterås cityīs north end.
It was situated on the same place where it had stood a milkmill. Later owner was a shopkeeper that was named Dagnell who build the first brewery. The brewery was later overtaken by the brewerychampion Paul, Schmid who came from Germany, but came to gotland on 1850-talet where he was a brewerychampion on Klintebys brewery. He died 1888, then his wife gave it to the brewerychampion Georg Durling. He only had it a couple of years before he sold it to the factory owner Oscar Ekroth, who oakumed it for many yearsbut with only 15 employed. Year 1919 the brewery were bought by Oscar Friedleiff, who came from Mariestad. During his governing it was many rebuildings and modernisations. He also built a private cottage on the south side of the brewery. The entire process took of about three month. Of everything they sold 75% direktly to the household after requisition and for other. Normal shops didnīt have allowance to sell these stuff. Untill 1920-30 they only used horseride but then they only drove
wood.They also represented vichyvatten and different sorts of lemonades which the also sold. Something more they sold was the yeast that became left after the beer was done, they say that it was much better that ferment dough etc. than common yeast. Under long times as was the brewery known for itīs good beer but the production was limited. The brewery continued untill 1945, then it became upbought of Kalmar Brewery LTD that then laid down the brewery of mönsterås.After some year bought
mönsterås municipality back it as it belonged to LTD Åkesson & Co, that began with "plastomoll-tillverkning" but around 1978 moved this company to newer modern places. This place is used now as a skate-hall.
