Mönsterås Matchfactory

The first factory:

Pharmacist Götrik Frykman as from Kalmar built Mönsterås first matchfactory about 1868. 1872 the factory had about 120 employees it was not unusually with children too, because it were not forbidden on the time with it. The factory was there in "kroken" at a brook was a bound between the borough and the border. But 1876 sold he the factory to A M Lindqvist as have the business in the borough. Lindqvist built to the factory, bought in more modern machine and increased the production. The fitting up became entirely new. It was match of sulphur they do, but they were easy to fire. Because it was so it not unusually with many small bakers in the factory. 1885 the factory lay down.

The second factory:

Two men built the second matchfactory as name were Ernst Kreuger and Fredrick Emil Kreuger as lived in Kalmar. But later lived Fredrik in London and it was good because many match exports there. Then he could do commercial for the factory and then became the packing not so big. Because they could the price so down. "Spetan" as it was called, remained under a long time of year Mönsterås only and gradually the biggest industry with hundred employees.

The factory was situated out on kuggås. Furthermore it existed much homework, it was most women as that.

Between 17th to 18th it was most match of sulphur for export. Because in Sweden it was forbid, so they sold to country there it was not forbidden for example China and India. It were very much competition powerful, because they were cheaper than the factory in Jönköping.

Torsten Kreuger 1906–07 was built a factory in Kalmar. Kalmar matchfactory and Mönsterås factory was constituted later to in commons company. 1919 the factory went to securitymatch instead.

The engineering advance was show on the labels, but it was most common "The ship". Many employees was work provide for self, but most it was to provide for its old parents.

It was much forest and timber of aspen, because it existed so many factory just in Småland, some was Kalmar, Oskarshamn, Västervik, Ålem and Lönneberga with more. But the Swedish match head office was in Jönköping as later bought up almost factory in the country. 1967 was the factory lay down, because they couldn’t compete with the biggest factory.
